Chris’ update on what he really needed and more importantly what he did not! This is after 6 months of traveling:
- REI backpack – awesome and a great pack to have
- Large plastic bags to protect our packs when checking as baggage – super tip for any traveler. After a few flights, toss the bag.
- Hats – only need 1 and I’ve already bought 2 more during travels
- Pants – only need 1 (2 at the max)
- Shoes – Only need a pair of sneakers and flip flops – forget the rest
- Underwear / socks – only need 2 pair each max
- Shorts – really 2 or 3 pairs at most (1 should be a bathing suit)
- Shirts – 5 total because you will buy some along the way
- Warm pullover – only need one of them not 2! Argh!
- Doc Kit: Love the Blade Buddy (7 months strong on a single blade!)
- Books: I hate our Kindle! The lighting sucks and the power is a pain; I’d carry books to drop as they are read.
ELECTRONICS
- 1 MacBook Pro – forget it and get another Air! The weight!!!
- 1 MacBook Air
- 2 Kindles – get good ones with accounts and books already
- 1 iPhone with AT&T international plan (we plan to use Skype for all calls, the phone is just for emergencies)
- 1 iPhone unlocked – Shocker AT&T lied it’s not unlocked Bastards!
- Nikon Coolpix L830 camera ok, we like it but this could be an iPhone only photo experience for a lot less weight. Think about it.
- GoPro camera
